Italian students society in the UK

United Italian Societies, UIS is an organisation whose mission is to develop the connections between local student communities present in the United Kingdom.

Universities have their own Italian societies that are to connect not only Italian students but others too, to promote Italian culture, to bridge ideas and cultures. Here are some of the members of UIS: Brunel University London, City (University of London), Imperial College London, King’s College London, London School of Economics, University College London, University of Oxford and the University of Westminster.

During the meeting last month, the organisation was formally formed, with its structure, goals, and visions defined. The Presidents’ Committee, which is made up of the Presidents of the individual societies, oversees the organisation. The Presidents’ Committee, which is at the heart of the UIS, meets at least twice a year to set an agenda for new initiatives. More universities are being invited to join by the present members.

The main goal is to bring together Italian university societies in collaborative projects with political and corporate institutions. This will enable them to showcase and connect Italian excellence with emerging talent. In addition, it will facilitate communication between institutions and the student body on key issues in the pursuit of balanced innovation and mentorship. The organisation is a community-building opportunity for students, providing assistance to the London and wider UK-based Italian population in adjusting, learning, and growing in an uncertain political and social environment, with open-mindedness built-in shared cultural values.

It will also allow member students to take advantage of powerful communication channels between universities and between the academic world and the future of work. There will also be the opportunity to bring young people closer to the world of work through the sponsorship of large Italian companies present in the United Kingdom.

The group wants to maintain strong contacts with local institutions, such as the Embassy, the Consulates General and the Italian Chambers of Commerce in the United Kingdom.

As a result of upcoming projects and events, not only students, both Italian and of any nationality, and universities will be able to communicate more effectively.
