New boarding accommodation has opened for Abbey College students
Abbey College is an independent sixth form college situated in Manchester city centre. The students who are not from the local area or international students are offered host family accommodation and now the students who are aged 16 years or more can choose to stay in a newly opened residence located just 10 minutes walk from the Abbey College Manchester.
Clydesdale House has 24-hour on-site security, together with a secure door entry system and CCTV cameras. There is secure storage for bicycles too, laundry facilities, an onsite maintenance team, and cleaning of kitchens completed weekly.
Abbey College Manchester has exclusive accommodation on the top three floors of the building, with access restricted to their students and staff. The 57 en-suite rooms are in separate clusters for girls and boys. Additionally, each cluster (approx. 10 rooms) has a large kitchen equipped with hobs and ovens, fridge and freezer space.
This is a place where students can have snacks or prepare extra meals as the meals breakfast, packed lunch and dinner are prepared for the students. There is a communal lounge in each cluster with a TV, a sofa and a table for socialising or studying.
The rooms are all en-suite and have desk, bed, and storage space with linen and towels included.
The students will be looked after by house-parents who also arrange various activities such as movie nights, arts and crafts activities to keep students busy and help them socialize.
Chris Randell, Assistant Principal – Boarding and Pastoral at Abbey College Manchester said the students have been enjoying the new space and activities : “From quizzes and charades to arts and crafts, and movie nights, the team at Clydesdale House are enjoying hosting a whole set of creative and fun activities for the students, helping them get to know each other and feel at home in Manchester.”
The Abbey College Manchester is a small college of a home and international students offering A-Level, GCSE, Combined Studies and International Foundation Programmes.
