New online IELTS test from 2022
IELTS is introducing IELTS Online, a new way to take IELTS Academic that will enable the students to take the test from their own home or another suitable location.
The world’s leading test of English for international higher education online will be available in early 2022. It will have the same format and content as the currently written and computer-delivered IELTS tests, but it will be based on a purpose-built platform with security features to ensure the test integrity.
Christine Nuttall, Managing Director of IELTS at Cambridge Assessment English, said, that IELTS online was the next step of improving the experience during the exam for all who take the test worldwide.
“It will give test takers greater flexibility in taking the IELTS test. It will also mean faster results for test takers, as validated results will be available as soon as three days after the test. By making the world’s leading test available online, we aim to empower even more people to take IELTS and follow their ambitions.”
IELTS Online will cover all four skills of IELTS Academic – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The speaking part of the test will be a real-time online speaking test face to face with an examiner trained by IELTS.
All tests will be marked by certified IELTS examiners and students will get results in 3-5 days. The scoring system and marking are exactly the same as IELTS.
The test security is ensured by live online exam proctors who are recruited and trained directly by IELTS. Additionally, the AI technology monitors the exam to alert for any malpractice.
The online IELTS advantages include the flexibility and access to the test to students who would not be able to take the test in the centre and also faster results.
