Ongoing campaign to promote study abroad by the Japanese government

Japanese government appointed a Japanese agency association JAOS to deliver a series of online seminars on higher education study abroad. The association has been contracted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to conduct the virtual seminars as part of the government’s ongoing campaign to promote study abroad.

The virtual seminars build on work that JAOS has already undertaken as part of the government campaign, including deliver seminars for students, parents and teachers on behalf of prefectural governments and working with Japan’s ‘Global Universities to promote study overseas.

The series of 16 online seminars providing basic knowledge of higher education study overseas will be delivered and aimed at high school teachers in Japan.

The focus of the sessions will be on the purpose of the campaign, the globalisation plans of the government, the differences between university study in Japan and popular destinations, education systems, application process and scholarship opportunities, as well as information about JAOS. The sessions will be delivered by JAOS-certified study abroad counsellors.

Established in 1991, JAOS is a member of the global Federation of Education and Language Consultant Associations (Felca) and consist of around 40 study abroad agencies in Japan, as well as associate members, partners and sponsors
