The most lucrative languages to be learnt by students in the USA in 2021.

A new study, by online learning platform Preply, has found out the most lucrative languages to be learnt by students in the USA in 2021. They ranked the top 10 profitable languages, in terms of getting easier new jobs, the highest salaries, and the best career opportunities, and Japanese positioned on the top.

The study aimed to provide students living and staying in the USA with this information to use them to make their study language choices.

The study ranked Japanese as the most profitable language in America, earning an average salary of $78,075 which is more than double the average annual salary in the US.

The other top five most profitable languages were Hindi, Korean, Italian and German. Mandarin only secured the ninth place in the list. Interestingly, Korean speakers in the US earn on average $28,844 more annually than Mandarin speakers.

Language studies are not a strong point in the USA as only 20% of USA citizens can speak a second language, in comparison to 60-75% of people who can speak two or more languages globally.

The report has taken to account the highest paid jobs in the USA, that stated each respective language as one of its requirements.

Kirill Bigai, CEO of Preply, shared an opinion on benefits of learning a language from gaining a better quality of work, health and social life but many people find it challenging to learn because of lack of time.

Preply, which is an online language learning platform, believes that online learning enables everyone to learn the language as it is flexible and can be done from the comfort of home whether it is as a hobby, or for a career improvement. The company offers studies of over 50 languages to its network of tens of thousands of students.
