One of the oldest business schools in France, Emlyon business school, founded in 1872 by the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the opening of a new campus in Mumbai as a part of St Xavier’s College.

The school operates already in India in Bhubaneswar and the new site should help to strengthen the position in India as said by the president of the executive board Isabelle Huault: “After its initial implementation in Bhubaneswar, this new campus in Mumbai is an opportunity for Emlyon Business School, to reassert its ambition to secure a long-lasting position in India.”

Both institutions share a common vision and agree on the importance to train responsible students able to address social and environmental issues. St Xavier’s College is a 150-year-old renowned institution offering undergraduate courses in Arts, Humanities, Business Studies and Mass Media.

The students from Emlyon will have access to the whole range of facilities such as classrooms, library, and laboratories of St Xavier’s large campus located in the heart of Mumbai.  Firstly, the pedagogical platform should serve 250 Indo-French students.

Father Keith D’Souza, vice-chairman of the board of trustees and rector of St Xavier’s College said that the collaboration with Emlyon is part of the strategic plan to enhance international networking, research and entrepreneurship.

Ashley Fernandes, who is currently in charge of Emlyon India, added that the agreement will “provide Indian and French students with an incredible international learning platform”.

Emlyon has other campuses in Lyon, Shanghai, Saint-Etienne, Casablanca and Paris. The school applies its years of experience and knowledge to provide innovative courses that are customisable in time and space, harnessing the ability to connect ecosystems.

According to the Times Higher Education ranking Emlyon Business School is top 2 of the French business schools for the second time in terms of global employability of its graduates.
