Different Views on EdTech as a Tool to Use in the Classroom

Edtech is becoming an increasingly popular tool in modern schools and classrooms

Educational technology, or edtech, refers to several tools and equipment used in the classroom to understand schoolwork better. There are several types of educational technology tools, and each has its own purpose and function.
Many teachers enjoy incorporating technology into their lessons. However, there are many various opinions when it gets to edtech. In this article, we’ll discuss three different perspectives on educational technology.

Edtech can be used to improve learning

Edtech is becoming an increasingly popular tool in modern schools and classrooms. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that technology can create a more engaging educational environment, improving students’ academic outcomes.
Many teachers believe that educational technology is the perfect tool because it can be used to provide students with visual representations, such as videos, graphics, and PowerPoint. Moreover, most students enjoy the use of technology, which means they are likely to react very well in the classroom.

Edtech can make school more flexible for students

Many teachers enjoy using technology in the classroom because it allows students to complete their school work from remote locations.
When students save their work in the cloud, they can access that work from any device or location because they have access to the Internet. This means students can take schoolwork home, giving them more time to complete assignments and projects.

Edtech is often used to improve communication and collaboration

There are many educational technology tools and applications that teachers can use to promote collaboration and communication between students.
For example, the new educational apps allow students (and teachers) to communicate from anywhere through a video conference. These apps are social learning management systems that will enable students to share work and ideas outside the classroom. Again, apps can also complete group tasks and projects from home, giving students much more flexibility.

Edtech can become a distraction

Many teachers see educational technology as a malicious educational tool. Some educators believe that technology in the classroom will only generate distractions among students.
As we’ve already mentioned, many students enjoy using technology. This creates a potential problem for students to use resources, such as YouTube, to watch videos that aren’t related to schoolwork. In this case, students will be taking advantage of edtech technology, which means it won’t be effective.

Conclusive thoughts

Educators around the world have different perspectives on educational technology and the effects it has on the classroom. Some people enjoy using technology for lessons because they can improve learning through videos, images, and PowerPoint. Other teachers make use of educational technology because it can make school more flexible for students. A handful of educators believe that technology is a distraction in the classroom and prefers not to use it.
