High School hybrid programme by Xplore
Xplore, a well-established provider in the study travel industry, has added a new programme into their portfolio. This UK hybrid programme of independent school education and homestay accommodation for international students aims to fill a post-Brexit gap in the market when placements of EU students at state schools will no longer be possible.
Xplore has partnered with a number of independent schools in England to offer day school study options combined with host family accommodation.
The question about placements for EU students from 2021 has recently become more evident. The new UK immigration rules do not allow EU students to be enrolled on academic programmes of state schools. The state-funded schools will have permission to become visa sponsors.
Ben Sinclair from Xplore, said the change of the visas created a gap in the market for students who might have chosen to study at mainstream schools in the UK on placement but cannot afford the traditional independent boarding option, so Xplore came up with the hybrid offer.
The programme will include the placement of students at private day schools with a stay in the host family. This will offer the international students a great learning experience with an opportunity to live with a local host family to learn more about the culture.
The programme called ‘MyChoice’ has been run by the provider for seven years and included state School & Host Family placement, as well as placing international students with partner private boarding schools. The partner schools have been positively praising the programmes as it has allowed increasing international diversity that was beneficial for both home and international students, and the provider would take care of the host family and guardianship.
